I have a late 2016 15.4" MacBook Pro optioned to the hilt. Finally, after making certain it has truly saved, I'mįorced to "Force Quit" Excel in Activity Monitor, then reopening Excel and starting all over again until it quickly becomes unresponsive again! I have tried setting autosave to every minute instead of the default 10 minutes, because there haveīeen a number of times when I've lost several hours of work, because it said it was "saving", but it was never really saving! Needless to say, I'm pretty disgusted with Excel's complete lack of performance! What is the problem?
I can do anything but wait, so for minutes at a time between every entry I'm just sitting waiting for it to catch up! So I leave Activity Monitor open to keep track of how badly it's doing. But long before it's using even 1 GB, it's generally taking minutes of being unresponsive before It starts out using about 150 MB of memory, but then gradually increases its use of memory until its over 2 GB if I let it go that far. After opening an online version of excel, I elect to edit it in my copy of excel, as I cannotĮdit the online version. Excel on my late 2016 MacBook Pro is using huge amounts of memory.
